This is our go to place for Chinese delivery. I had run by this place many times in living close by, and honestly thought it looked a bit sketchy. It wasn't until my wife randomly brought it home one night that I knew not to judge the place by its outward appearance.
The food always comes promptly, is in large portions and is very fresh. It honestly had ruined other Chinese restaurants for us because none compare when it comes to flavor, taste and quality.
I have not eaten inside the restaurant, but if you want reliable, quick and tasty Chinese food that has never even come close to making me sick...this is the place to go. -

TLDR; Big portions for a decent price, better for delivery than dine in. Avoid buffet
I've ordered from Yang Chow twice (for delivery) and came in for a visit today, specifically for their lunch buffet.
In the past, via delivery, I have ordered the following from them:
-fried chicken wings
-salt and pepper fried fish
-chow mein
-chicken & corn soup
I felt like the items I received via delivery were great! For their delivery alone, I think they deserve 3.5-four stars. My items come in huge portions, are great for the price, and often still hot/fresh (granted, I live close by).
The reason for the 3 stars is for their dine in experience. I think that the expectations for dine in should be very low, especially for their lunch buffet. At an 8.95 price, it was 'worth' the money, but by that I mean you're going to be full if you stuff yourself with carbs but don't expect freshness or great variety.
Today their buffet served:
-plain rice (didn't try, looked old/dry)
-shrimp fried rice (didn't try, looked old/dry)
-beef chow mein (kinda dry, but they replaced this dish)
-jalapeno chicken (just ok, not very much meat and just a lot of sauce)
-combo veggies (decent)
-fried pork chops (didn't try, looked dry and picked at)
-fried chicken wings (just ok, very bready and bland)
-fried wontons (didn't try)
-fried spring rolls (didn't try)
-sweet and sour pork (when I got there, it was picked at and very little meat; didn't enjoy)
-chicken and corn soup (very old, little to no corn or chicken, tasted burnt)
Also, this is not the cleanest establishment (their bathroom reeks), but I think this should be expected for the kind of place it is. -

This is my favorite restaurant when I'm in Oakland at Lakeside Lounge! They deliver to my spot and the food is so good & always piping hot!

No frills. Nothing fancy. No atmosphere. But good, hot, filling (all you can eat) buffet. Arrive early for best selection.

I placed an order (via Grubhub) for my vision impaired grandmother. The delivery person tells her that she needs to pay, so she's confused. I speak with the driver, and he then asks for a tip. My grandmother was scared and I do not appreciate that.
Almost forgot, the driver didn't want to get out of the car. My grandmother was at the door waiting for him to eventually come to her... luckily I was on the phone with her!
But the food is normally pretty good.
